With special gratitude to William Patterson, CCIM, Duncan Patterson, CCIM, Darbin Skeans, CCIM and the CCIM Foundation, the PA/NJ/DE CCIM Chapter is pleased to offer the following educational scholarships:

The W. Duncan Patterson, Jr. and Darbin Skeans Scholarship ($1,000)

The Darbin Skeans, CCIM & W. Duncan Patterson, Jr. Scholarship was created to support qualified real estate professionals in their efforts to achieve the CCIM designation. Recipient should exemplify the high caliber of professionals that comprise the CCIM Institute. W. Duncan Patterson, Jr., CCIM is the co-founder and president of Patterson Woods Commercial Properties of Wilmington, Delaware and served as President of the CCIM Institute in 2000. Darbin Skeans, CCIM is a principal of SVN | Imperial Realty of Allentown, Pennsylvania and served as President of the CCIM Institute in 2001. Both are active members of the PA/NJ/DE CCIM Chapter and their respective communities. 

Created in 2017 by the PA/NJ/DE CCIM Chapter with matching funds provided by the CCIM Foundation, this named endowed scholarship honor those who have shown great dedication, commitment, outstanding achievement and service to the Commercial Real Estate industry.

The William Patterson Scholarship ($1,000)

The William Patterson Scholarship was established to honor individuals for their outstanding service to their CCIM chapter, the Commercial Real Estate industry, and to their communities. William Patterson, CCIM, of Wilmington, Delaware, served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1961, he founded Patterson-Schwartz & Associates, which is now Delaware’s largest independent Realtor® firm. He served as President of the CCIM Institute in 1975, and was followed by his son Duncan as President in 2000, making them the only father-son combination to lead the organization in its history. William passed away in 2009 at 88 years of age.

Created in 2011 by the PA/NJ/DE CCIM Chapter with matching funds provided by the CCIM Foundation, this named endowed scholarship honor those who have shown great dedication, commitment, outstanding achievement and service to the Commercial Real Estate industry.

CCIM Institute’s Cultural Diversity Education Program (various amounts)

Commercial real estate’s workforce of today will not look like the workforce of tomorrow! CCIM Institute’s Cultural Diversity Education Program (CDEP) is committed to advancing the professional growth of underrepresented groups in the commercial real estate industry. Qualified applicants will learn the CCIM approach to investment strategy, financial analysis, and market analysis.

Since its inception, more than 1,500 students in the program have completed one of our two-day introductory courses, and some have gone on to earn the CCIM designation

CCIM Foundation Veterans Scholarship Program (various amounts)

Established in 2020, the CCIM Foundation Veterans Scholarship Program gives back to the brave men and women who have served the United States by offering educational funding to pursue a new career in the dynamic commercial real estate industry. Qualifying U.S. military veterans can apply for up to $20,000 to use for non-degree-based commercial real estate education, including certification programs through National Association of REALTORS® affiliate organizations, including CCIM Institute, IREM, and SIOR.

The deadline to apply for scholarships for our 2024 courses is April 12.

Scholarship Selection Criteria

  • Applicant should demonstrate a commitment to a commercial real estate career;
  • Applicant should demonstrate active involvement as a dues-paying member with the PA/NJ/DE CCIM Chapter;
  • Applicant should demonstrate a need for financial assistance;
  • Applicants who have not already received previous scholarship assistance will be given preference.

Recipients will receive up to $1,000 to offset the cost of one of the following CCIM designation courses:

The CCIM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and generously matches our Chapter’s funds from the above-named scholarships.
